AJ lived the majority of her childhood years in Torrance Seattle, and Milwaukee. While children, the girls began to learn the guitar and keyboard. Before reaching teens, the sisters had become specialists in their disciplines. AJ started acting at age five, and was a part of shows at church. AJ was also active in her school's musical productions.
